This Indenture made this twenty fifth day of April in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight between
James A Crawford of the County of Bartholomew and State of Indi
ana of the first part and Harvey Dickinson of the County of
Bartholomew and State of Indiana of the second part witnesseth
that the said party of the firs part for and in consideration of
the sum of one hundred and fifteen dollars lawful money of
the United States to him in hand paid by the said party
by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is
hereby acknowledged by the said party of the first part hath
granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant
bargain and sell unto the said party of the second part and his
heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land lying &
situate in the County of Bartholomew and state of Indiana
vis the undivided seventh share of the North East half of the
North East quarter of section fourteen in township no nine
North of Range five East also forty acres the South half of the
West half of the North West quarter of section thirteen in
Township NO nine north range five east together with all
and singular the hereditatments and appurtenances thereunto
belonging or in anywise appertaining and the reversion and reversions
remainder and remainders rents issues and profits thereof. To
have and to hold the said piece parcel or lot of land above
particularly described with the appurtenances aforesaid to the sole
and only use benefit and behoof of the said party of the
second part his heirs and assigns forever. And the said party of
the first part for himself and for his heirs executors and adminis
trators doth covenant and agree to and with the said party of the
second part and his heirs and assigns that he the said party of
the first part is lawfully seized of the premises hereby conveyed
as of a good sure perfect and absolute estate of inheritance in the law

in fee simple that the same are free and clear of all incumbrances what
soever and that he hath good right to sell and convey the same in manner
and form aforesaid and further that he the said party of the first part
his heirs executors and administrators shall and will warrant and
forever defend the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns
in the quiet and peaceable possession of the above granted and
bargained premises against all and every person or persons whomsoever
lawfully claiming or to claim the same and every part and parcel
thereof. In witness whereof the said James Crawford party of
the first part hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal
the day and year first above written.

I John Jackson, a Justice of the peace in and for said county
do hereby certify that on this twenty fifth day of April one
thousand eight hundred and thirty eight personally appeared
before me James A. Crawford known to me to be the person
described in and who executed the within deed, and acknow
ledged the same to be his voluntary act and deed further pur
poses therein expressed. In witness whereof I hereunto
subscribed my name and affixed my seal at the County
aforesaid the day of May first above written
