This Indenture made the 27 day of April in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and forty six between Anderson C Guthrie
and Ann Guthrie wife of said Anderson of the first part and Patsy
Miner of the second part witnesseth that the said parties of

the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred
and twenty dollars lawful money of the Untied States to them in
hand well and truly paid by the said party of the second part the
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold
conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain
sell convey and confirm unto the said party of the second part
her heirs and assigns forever the following piece or parcel of
ground situate lying and being in the county of Ripley and state
of Indiana and known and designated as follows to wit being the
North East quarter of the Northwest quarter of section no thirty
four (34) in township no six (6) north of Range No Ten (10)
East containing forty acres more or less also five acres off of
the west end of the north east half of the north east quarter
of said section no thirty four (34) in the township and range
aforesaid and adjoining the tract or parcel of grand first above
mentioned in the said county of Ripley and all the estate right
title interest claim and demand of them the said parties of the first
part of in and to the said premises and every part thereof together
will all and singular the privileges and appurtenances to the same be
longing or in any wise appertaining and the rents issues and profits
thereof to have and to hold the premises hereby bargained and sold or
meant or intended so to be with the appurtenances to the only proper
use and behoof of the said party of the second part her heirs and
assigns forever. And the said Anderson C Guthrie for himself his heirs
executors and administrators doth covenant promise and agree that
with the said party of the second part her heirs executors admin
istrators and assigns that he is the true and lawful owner of the
premises hereby granted and hath good rightfull power and lawful
authority to sell and convey the same in manner and force aforesaid
and further that he the said Anderson C Guthrie his heirs executors
administrators will warrant and forever defend the aforesaid [prom]

ises with their appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof unto
the said party of the second part her heirs and assigns against all per
sons lawfully claiming or to claim by from or under him them or any
of them or by from or under any other person whomsoever
In witness whereof the said parties of the first part (the said Anne
hereby relinquishing her dower have hereunto set their hands and seals
the day and year first above written

The State of Indiana Jefferson County ss Before me Thomas Trans
dail a Justice of the peace within and for said county this day per
sonally appeared Anderson C Guthrie and Ann Guthrie his wife
the above named grantors to me personally known as such and [person]
ally acknowledged the above deed of conveyance to be their voluntary
act and deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned
And having first made known to said Ann Guthrie the contents
and purport of said deed she acknowledged on a private examination
separate and apart from and without the hearing of her said husband
that she executed said deed of her own free will and accord and with
out any coercion or compulsion from her said husband.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed
the seal of my office this 27 day of April in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and forty six.

Jefferson County Sct I John H Taylor Clerk of the circuit court
of said county do hereby certify that Thomas Transdail Esq before
whom the foregoing deed of conveyance was acknowledged and who has
certified the same was at that time and still is an acting Jus
tice of the peace in and for said county duly commissioned and qual
ified and that full [oath] and credit are due and ought to be
given to all his official acts as such and that the signature at
tached to the certificate purporting to be his is genuine. In testi

said court at Madison this 15th day of June AD 1846.
