This Indenture made this fourth day of March in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and twenty three between John Fowler
of the County of Bartholomew and state of Indiana of the first and
Isaac Crawford of the County and state aforesaid of the second part
Witnesseth that the said John Fowler for and in consideration of
the sum of $100 dollars lawful money of the United States to him
in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath
granted bargained sold aliened and enscossed and by these pres-
ent doth grant bargain sell alien and enscoss unto the
said Isaac Crawford his heirs and assigns forever all that cer-
tain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of
Bartholomew State aforesaid it being the west half of the half
of the North west half quarter of section number thirteen in Town-
ship number Nine North of Range number five East containing
Forty acres in the district of Land sold at Jeffersonville To
have and to hold to the said Isaac Crawford his heirs and
assigns forever the aforesaid tract or parcel of Land aforesaid
with all its appurtenances and that he the said John Fowler
for himself his heirs executors and administrators doth here-
by covenant to and with the said Isaac Crawford his heirs
and assigns that he the said John Fowler is seized of the
aforesaid tract or parcel of Land in fee simple with full pow-
er and lawful authority to sell and dispose of the same and
that he the said John Fowler his heirs executors and adminis-
trators the aforesaid tract or parcel of land to the said Isaac
Crawford his heirs and assigns will and shall by these presents
forever warrant and defend against himself his heirs and
assigns and against all and every other person or persons law-
fully claiming or to claim the same. In testimony whereof the
said John Fowler and Lucinda Fowler wife of the said
John Fowler hath hereunto set their hands and seals the day
and year first above written

and Lucinda Fowler his wife and ack-
nowledged their hands and seals affixed on the within deed of con-
veyance to be their voluntary act and deed for the purposes therein
