This Indenture made this twenty first day of December in the year of
our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and forty six between Beverly Vawter
and Elizabeth Vawter his wife of the County of Jefferson and state of India
na of the first part and Thomas Blair of the county and state aforesaid
of the second part Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for
and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and seventy dollars
lawful money of the United States to them in hand well and truly paid
by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
have granted bargained sold conveyed and confirmed and by these presents
do grant bargain sell and convey and confirm unto the said party of the
second part his heirs ans assigns forever, a certain lot or parcel of land
lying n the county of Jefferson and State of Indiana being apart of
the North West quarter of section thirty one (31) Township five (5) North of
the Range line being the southwest corner of said Vawter’s land thence by
and with said range line North four and a half degrees west thirty poles to a
sugar tree on the north side of a branch thence down said branch north
eighty nine degrees east twenty seven poles and fifteen links to a stone
thence down said branch north forty five and one fourth degrees
east forty poles to a buckeye thence south forty eight and one fourth degrees
east thirteen poles to sycamore thence down Indian Rentnek Creek
South twenty seven and three fourth degrees East twenty eight poles
and six links to a stone on the west bank of said creek thence south

sixty two and a half degrees west ninety poles to the place of beginning
containing eleven and a half acres.
In witness whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set
their hand and seals the day and year first above written.

Before me Zephaniah Freeman a Justice of the
peace with and for said County this day personally appeared Beverly
Vawter and Elizabeth Vawter his wife the above grantors who are
personally known to me to be such and severally acknowledges the sign
in sealing and delivery of the above indenture to be their voluntary
act and deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned and I having ma
de known to the said Elizabeth Vawter the wife of the said Beverly
Vawter the full contents and purport of said above deed she severally ac
knowledged to me on a private examination separate and apart from
and without the hearing of her said husband that she executed said above
deed of her own free will and accord and without any coercion or
compulsion from her said husband.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
seal of Office this twenty first day of December one thousand
eight hundred and forty six
