This Indenture made this 30th day of December in the year of our Lord
1836 between Beverly Vawter and Elizabeth his wife of the first part
and William Copeland of the second part all of Jefferson County an
State of Indiana. Witnesseth that the said Beverly Vawter and
Elizabeth Vawter of the first part for and in consideration of the sum
of one hundred dollars lawful money of the United States to them
in hand paid by the said William Copeland the receipt whereof
is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold aliened released
conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain
sell alien release convey and confirm unto the said William
Copeland his heirs and assigns forever, the following lot or tract
of land bounded as follows beginning at a stone on the line
dividing said Vawter and Copelands half of the south west
quarter of section thirty town five north of range eleven east

near the corner of said Copelands farm running thence 20 pole west to
a stone at the root of a beach thence south eighty pole to a stone
thence east twenty pole to a stone at the aforesaid dividing line
thence with said line north eighty pole to the beginning
containing ten acres more or less and all the estate right
title interest claim and demand of them the said Beverly
Vawter and Elizabeth Vawter of in and to the said premises
and every part thereof Together with all and singular this
privileges and appurtenances to the same belonging or in
any wise appertaining to have and to hold the premises
aforesaid hereby bargained and sold with the appurtenances
to the only proper use and behoof of the said William Cope
land his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Vawter for him
self his heirs executors administrators and assigns do coven
ant and agree to an with the said Copeland his heirs exe
cutors administrators and assigns to convey the same in
manner and form aforesaid, and that he the said Beverly
Vawter heirs executors and administrators will warrant and
forever defend the aforesaid premises with their appurtenan
ces and every part and parcel thereof unto the said William
Copeland his heirs and assigns against all persons claiming
or to claim by or from them or any of them or by from or
under any other person or persons whomsoever In witness
whereof the said Beverly Vawter and Elizabeth his wife have hereunto
set their hands and seal the day and year first above written

The State of Indiana Jefferson County Sct. Before me John McCoy a
Justice of the Peace within and for said County personally appeared Beverly
Vawter and Elizabeth his wife parties of the first part and acknowledged
the above deed of conveyance to be their voluntary deed and act for
the uses and purposes therein mentioned, the said Elisabeth Vawter
having been examined privily and apart from her husband and the
contents of said deed having been fully explained to her says she did
execute the same without fear control or coercion from her said
husband and doth freely relinquish her right of dower to the premises here
by conveyed — Given under my hand an seal this thirtieth day of
December 1836
