Paying Forward

Do you have data sitting in your genealogy files that isn't of help to you but might help others tie siblings together?

That's what I've found by researching land transactions for John Crawford in Lincoln County, Kentucky. I've found three deeds naming a Power of Attorney for heirs of John Crawford.

Page 420 of Lincoln County Deed, KY,  DeedBook R identifies the following heirs in 1842

• Rebecca Ellis
• Esther Ellis
• Ruhama McCoy
• Frederick Sponseller
• Harriet Sponseller

Page 366 of Lincoln County, KY,  Deed Book W identifies the following heirs for Morrow County, Ohio

• Joseph Bashford
• John M Bashford
• Robert c Bashford
• William Bashford
• James Bashford
• Joseph Bashford Jr
• Sarah J Bashford - by her guardian and mother Margaret Bashford

Page 367 of Lincoln County, KY Deed Book W provides more information regarding the Ellis heirs

• Rebecca Ellis
• Esther Ellis - Franklin County PA
• Moses McCoy & Rhuanah McCoy
• Frederick Sponsler & Herriet Sponsler his wife  of Washington Couny MD
• Rhuanah and Harriet formerly named ELLIS

Even though I don't have much information on these individuals, I've tried to find them on the Family Search tree.  I believe I found the McCoy and Sponseller families.

• Moses McCoy [MQHQ-3NS]
• Rhuana Ellis [MQHQ-322]
• Harriett Ann Ellis (1800-1886) [MJSL-39J]
• FrederickSponseller (1795-1855) [MJSL-3MY]

I found a Bashford family that may be a match. Unfortunately, it doesn't include James, Joseph, or Sarah. However, the mother's name is Margaret [LK5L-82D]

At this point, I have no idea how these families might be related to John Crawford. Based on the families I found on Family Search, they may not even know they are related to each other.

However, I'm hoping that through Family Search, I will find someone who knows the relationship. With that purpose in mind, I attached the deeds to the appropriate families. I also added a DISCUSSION in hopes of finding out the relation to John Crawford.

I'm hoping that my sharing what I've found thru Family Search will help these families identify the family unit. I'm also hoping that a researcher of these families will be able to help me figure out who John Crawford is. 

I would love for someone to find similar records for my ancestors and share them in this way!
